The close-up on Jin’s eye to start things can only mean one thing… flashbacks…
We get a little more detail about how a simple fisherman’s son became a thug for his wife’s wealthy father and we also learn that Jin pretended to not have a father because he was ashamed of his humble beginnings. But right before the crash he had returned to his real dad for advice and planned on leaving Korea with Sun and starting anew in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile back on the island he is still an overbearing husband and won’t even let her go for a swim in what appeared to be a brand new bikini. He is also still jealous of Michael who almost has his escape raft built…then one night… the boat bursts into flames.
Michael immediately suspects Jin and beats his face in until Sun screams in English for him to stop. Boy what a show stopper that was. Well at least everyone now knows that she speaks English, including Jin who I suspect also speaks some.
When Sawyer and Micheal insist that Jin set fire to the boat, Locke jumps out of the jungle and finally says “We are not the only people on this island and we all know it!” Thank you John Locke for bringing logic back into the show. Locke also makes them realize that this Island is a chance for all to start a new life. He has such a positive mental attitude.
Here’s to new beginnings…
Despite the efforts of Boone to disrupt her new romance with Sayid, she moves forward with it. Sayid and Shannon are taking their friendship to the next level. New beginnings…
Jin separates from Sun, but then helps Michael rebuild the raft. New beginnings…
Over a game of Backgammon, Locke tells Walt that he knows that he was the one who set the boat on fire. Walt says that he is tired of moving and doesn’t want to leave the island. Locke says he won’t tell anyone because he also likes the Island. New beginnings…
Now that Sun is a liberated woman, she can freely walk into the ocean in her new bikini. New beginnings…
The batteries in Hurley’s CD player finally went out. Now maybe that will put an end to the bad music video endings we’ve had to endure.
I am wondering why Hurley is the only character that we know nothing about. Was he also on the Island and not on the plane?
“New” beginnings???
And all I can say is, “John Locke is awesome!”
