Oh man, I think LOST is getting all “Rosemary’s Baby” on us. This episode focused on Claire and her backstory and was so scary that I had to immediately wash it away with the latest “30 Rock” episode.
Once again the show starts with somebody’s closed eye (the dream/inner world thing is going to be huge!) In this case poor pregnant Claire has a nightmare that includes weirdo John Lock and a crib in the jungle filled with bloody gauze or maybe a dead baby, I don’t know because I covered my eyes once she started screaming. Anyway, the “nightmare” ends with her hands covered in blood as she awakens.
Of course Jack just attributes it to stress, but hey by this time we know better, especially after she awakens the next night with someone trying to stick something in her stomach. Charlie believes her since he is Catholic and they believe anything.
After a series of flashbacks we discover that Claire had a crappy boyfriend that left her because the pregnancy was cramping his lifestyle. After consulting a psychic who was so terrified by what he saw he gave her a money back guarantee so she would go away, Claire decides to give the baby away. But of course can’t because that would wreck the story line. She does what any other person would do and returns to the psychic for advice.
Once again he is horrified but just tells her that she must be the one to raise the child, OR ELSE!! Then he puts her on the plane that crashes just to make sure.
Meanwhile in other news, Hurley, decides to conduct a census on the Island and discovers that one of them was not on the plane. Then we cut to close-up of Creepy Ethan who I had originally written off as a bench-warmer character. Oh LOST you’ve tricked me again. I shake my fists at you!
Here are a few more updates.
Hurley always seems to be the sensible one of the bunch. After taking it upon himself to conduct a census, he reveals that his real name is Hugo Reyes!! A Latino on the island! Yay!!
Creepy Ethan is up to no good. Those bulging eyes are a dead give away.
Sayid stumbles back to the caves to reveal his encounter with the crazy French Scientist. “We are not alone!” Ack!!
OK, so I think the dreamboat brother of Shannon is named “Boone,” but I’ve been wrong before.
On to episode 11 and wondering what happened to Vicent the dog…
