All the beautiful people still have hope and think that they will be rescued. The nerds disagree. Does this say anything about human nature as a whole?

So there are now 2 campsites. The beautiful, people have beachfront property (so typical) in hopes of spotting a rescue boat and the nerds now live near a waterfall in the jungle. This was definitely a transitional episode to flesh out the real estate for future episodes.

Most of the show focused on the Japanese couple after the black man, (was his name Walt?) was nearly killed by the Japanese man. (Also, don’t you think it’s weird that only 4 black people were on the plane back to LA?) Anyway, as luck should have it, we discover that the Japanese woman can actually speak English when she tries to explain why her husband was so angry. (He is definitely a hot head.) Her husband doesn’t know that she speaks english, so we can expect more fireworks in the future.

asian-gal We spent a great deal of time fleshing out the backstory of the Japanese woman this week. Apparently she is the daughter of a wealthy and powerful and possibly mafioso father in Japan. She fell in love with her husband while he was a waiter. Clearly out of her class, he asks her father for her hand in marriage after striking a deal to become one of the dad’s henchmen. Their marriage had been dissolving before the crash, although she still has some deeper lingering feelings for him. However she is conflicted especially after being around the hunky and handsome Walt. (Is that the Black guy’s name?)

charlie-aI may have been a bit mistaken about Charlie although my instincts say keep one eye open on this one. He was part of the team that trekked into the jungle to get water. As he was trying to lick the dregs from his baggie of drugs, John Lock spotted him. John knows his secret (of course) and convinced Charlie to hand over the drugs in return for his guitar to magically reappear out of nowhere.

orange-man-aLock will obviously become the self-help guru and motivational speaker of the bunch. Trust me. He is my favorite character so far.

OK, as you may have noticed, I am terrible with remembering names. I always have been. Sorry, don’t hate me. 18 more episodes left in Season 1…
