Oh man episode 4 was so righteously bad-ass! It was John Lock’s, a.k.a., “orange peel man’s” shining hour. We discovered what the “miracle” from last week’s episode was about. Apparently in his pre-lost life, John was a wheelchair ridden, loser. After the crash he could walk, hence “the miracle.” Of course nobody else knows this.
Also, the food finally ran out after 4 days. (Proving once again that this is a dream because what airplane carries 4 days of food on board.) Thankfully our man John Lock is also a knife wielding psycho and packed a suitcase full of hunting knives onboard the plane. Fortunately the script writer didn’t have them parish in the crash. Anyway, needless to say a team treks out into the jungle to hunt wild boar. After the boar get first crack at them, Lock stays in the jungle to hunt by himself. The “monster” which we still don’t see, reveals itself to Lock. Minutes later John emerges from the jungle dragging a baby boar.
Sounds a bit too convenient for me. I think he made friends with the monster, because I also think that he is dreaming. (This episode begins with a close-up on his closed eyes after the “crash.”) In fact my new theory is that everyone is dreaming and all dreams are converging to create the story. This is not unlike life itself. The human experience is probably nothing more that a matrix of connected dreams. Stick that thought in your bonnet for awhile. It totally makes sense.
Oh, and didn’t I tell you the white shoe from episode one would mean something? Guess what? Jack sees a man in the distance wearing white shoes. They are not alone…
Here are the profile updates for this episode:
Jack displayed uncharacteristically anti-social behavior when he refused to participate in the memorial ceremony for the dead passengers. Frankly, I don’t blame him.
Rose (the black woman that Jack saved in episode 1) is in denial about her husband’s death in the crash. He was in the back of the plane when the tail blew off. Logically she says “If we are alive, why shouldn’t they be?” Hmm… never thought about it that way. Thanks for the positive mental attitude, Rose.
OK 4 down and 21 more to go for Season 1…
